How do I go about making an avatar??? I know my first step will be to find (or take) a decent pic of myself.

You will need some sort of photo editing tool. Most windows users with Microsoft Office should have Microsoft Photo Editor, and you take your picture, probably crop it, and then use the re-sizing options and make sure it is no larger than 80x80 pixels. You should refer to the other "string" of posts on this topic. Or ask Larry! He can also spruce yours up too! Yeah, shout-out to Larry! Woot! Out.
