cont. diversion

Post by Johnboy »

I have FAP. Colon removed in 1985-permanent ileostomy in 1986-takedown didn't work. Had prostatectomy in Jan. 2002 due to prostate cancer. Each time the catheter was removed, my urethra would close off. Finally had to have a supra pubic tube in Mar. 2002. The pain from the catheter rubbing in my bladder is horrendous. Have to change the cath. every two-three weeks or it plugs up and adheres to bladder(ouch!) Am contemplating urinary diversion using my bladder with section of small intestine as an outlet(with a stoma.) I have a bad history with scar tissue. Would like input from this type of surgery, and especially from double ostomites.

Hello Johnboy,

You might want to repost this in the general discussion board. There are several people there regularly with double ostomies who I'm sure will respond to you.
