In view of the uncertainty of our times, I simply would like to express my appreciation & love for the many kindred spirits I have met on this discussion board & thru the pages of The Phoenix/(formerly Ostomy Quarterly.) A distinct ray of hope in a much less than perfect world. The kindness with which you have reached out to others in dire circumstances speaks volumes about each & every one of you.
The Gift
May you feel the hidden presence
Of my soul's life breath
As it rises and falls
Strong and faithful as the sea.
Transcending mortal distraction
To caress your own heart
Within rhythmic waves of shimmering solace
And the murmured constant
Of an unbroken peace.

I wrote the above for someone whose own experience of life with ostomies far eclipses mine. Someone who has fought more battles. Endured more pain than I can ever imagine. Whose story of strength & courage has influenced me across many miles through the efficacy & kinship of the UOAA. From the depths of my helplessness, I share this poem with all of you. Expressing my poor faltering offering in a world that tends to discard its broken children.
May God bless.
